This cabinet card was found among others featuring students from Ohio Wesleyan University. Charles BoDurtha operated his photography studio in the university town of Delaware. The young woman is identified on the reverse as Clara Wright of Tinney, Ohio.
Clara Finette Wright was born about 1874. Census records tell us that Clara and her parents, William and Almeda (Tinney) Wright, lived in Scott Township, Ohio. I found no census information for Tinney, Ohio. Scott was a mere three miles west which leads me to believe this is our girl.
Clara attended Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware. She married Alson Martin in 1899 and they settled in Toledo, Ohio. The couple had one child, a daughter who they named Finette. This was a family name that belonged to Clara’s paternal Grandmother, Finette (Lockwood) Wright. Newspaper and death records for Toledo are scarce so I was unable to determine what became of Clara.
