At first glance you would think this was taken after a funeral, with the church-like building in the background and the baskets and urns full of flowers. But written on the back is “Golden Wedding of Rev. & Mrs. Rahn Oct 17 – 1938.”

I cropped the photo and ran it through an image editing app called Remini so that the anniversary couple wasn’t so darn blurry. I think it might have given them a more youthful appearance. I’m sure they wouldn’t mind.
Seven months after the couples’ anniversary bash Mrs. Emma Rahn died on May 10, 1939. The Reverend Herman Rahn died in 1945.

Older version of the little black dress I guess. I think they look content. There’s a little something about their lips, not a smile, of course, but the hint of some special something. I love that you honor these lives that might otherwise be forgotten!

I think their faces and expressions prove the adage about couples looking alike as they age.😊
